Forager

Collaborators Platonic StudiosTopos Graphics and Flying Pyramids describe this self-initiated publication titled Forager: A Subjective Guide to Miami’s Edible Plants, as ‘a visual love letter’ to their hometown of Miami. The final book functions as a field guide to edible plants, while also acting as a ‘photographic exploration of a life lived in the subtropics’.

The use of sumptuous serifs such as Poster Bodoni and Garamond reference The Macmillan Company’s 1942-published edition of The Birds of America, which is one of the best known natural history books ever produced. The use of Futura though offers a nice counterpoint, thanks to its straightforward and workmanlike aesthetic. Overall, the typography and layout by designers Topos Graphics and Flying Pyramids, perfectly compliments the beautifully styled photography by Platonic Studios.
