Impressive new work from Hort who recently designed this publication made up of six books for Rainer Schmidt Landschaftsarchitekten & Stadtplaner. This boxed set published by Birkhäuser Verlag explores Schmidt’s work through a series of essays and case studies.

The use of typography, proportion and grid based design creates a codified system that nicely references the subject matter of landscape architecture and urban planning.

The subject matter demanded a more subtle approach to what I’ve come to imagine when I think of Hort, meaning this publication provides a beautiful counterpoint to the studio’s more brash and colourful work. It therefore wonderfully demonstrates the studio’s versatility and masterful approach to design and visual communication.
