Australian design publication Desktop Magazine revealed the winners of the Create Design Awards 2013 earlier today! As always it’s a treasure trove of beautiful and inspirational design from some of Australia’s very best.

Dave Foster took out first place in the Typography category with his serif typeface Blanco, which he completed whilst attending the Type and Media Masters program at the Royal Academy of Art in Den Haag. This robust and beautiful serif was designed to serve as a companion typeface for Mote, a sans-serif designed by Hrvoje Živčić. While it shares Mote’s proportions its sturdy letterforms were influenced by the likes of Plantin and Caslon.
